Assistance Update. . .
Our Lodge has been offering assistance to a "Family in Need" since Christmas. To refresh your memory, Colleen, 39 year old single mother of 3, had a massive heart attack. Colleen is recovering slowly but well. She has returned to work on a part time basis. The children are still helping Colleen with the daily household chores. Her prognosis is good. The doctors say she will continue to be fatigued until her body heals from the surgery, but she is expected to make a full recovery.
Colleen asked me to let all of the members who came to her aid know that she was "overwhelmed by the outpouring of charity among our Lodge". "It was very unexpected and extremely appreciated". She was able to buy groceries and pay some of her bills because of the donations from Elks Lodge #714. It "restored her faith in humanity". She is "thankful to all who were kind enough to contribute".
